Today I received my copy of Craig Thompson’s Habibi, and I sat down and read this 672 page hardcover graphic novel cover to cover the moment I opened the amazon.com packaging. It is, and I don’t use this word lightly, a masterpiece. I’ve been in love with Craig Thompson’s work ever since I read Blankets, and I think he is probably one of the artists whose had the most influence on me and my work - especially regarding sketching and using a brushpen. He has informed my art and storytelling greatly, and Habibi did not fail to reach the high bar that Blankets set. This is my small sketch-tribute! Go buy this book, it’s beautiful!
